A Frances Daniels, 98, of Wolfeboro, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 in Laconia, NH.

She was born February 2, 1919 in Reading , MA the daughter of the late Walter and Grace (Ryan) Knight.

The beloved wife of Robert Daniels for 62 years, her early years were in South Wolfeboro where she attended a one room school house with Mr. Corkum as her teacher.  She had moved many times to different Foster Home’s and later graduated from the Hillsboro High School.

Frances enrolled in the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing and graduated to different positions and Boston Lying Inn, the Deaconess Hospital and later the McLean Hospital..  She later worked many years at the Beverly Hospital at various positions.  Mrs. Daniels served as the school nurse in Beverly for many years and was affectionately known as the “Cootie Lade”, since all students were checked for head lice regularly.

She retired from nursing and moved back to Wolfeboro where she became active in civic affairs.

Frances was a member of the Wolfeboro Historical Society and served as Curator of the Clarke House for several years.  She was also a member of the Morning Star Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star in Wolfeboro, NH and served as the Rainbow Girls Advisor.  She was also active with the Huggins Hospital Women’s Auxiliary helping with the annual Street Fair.  She was active in several area churches and spent several years getting the North Wolfeboro Church listed as a National Historic Monument.

Frances was predeceased by her husband Robert Daniels and her oldest son Robert Daniels.  She is survived by her sons David Daniels, ME and Peter Daniels, MA.

There will be no calling hours.  Memorial services will be held 12:00 PM, Friday, September 29, 2017 at Lord Funeral Home, Wolfeboro, NH.  Burial will be in the Knight Family Cemetery, Manchester-By-The-Sea, MA. at a later date.
