Welcome to the memorial page for

Barbara Lewando Zulauf

March 21, 1921 ~ June 27, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Barbara L. Zulauf, of Wolfeboro, NH passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017.  She was born in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire on March 21, 1921, was the daughter of Dolph and Isabel (Watt) Lewando. She was a graduate of Brewster Academy, Westbrook Junior College, and the University of New Hampshire. She taught History and English at Brewster Academy as well as Kingswood Regional High School both of Wolfeboro, NH until her retirement in 1974.

For 35 years, she and her husband, Edward W. Zulauf, owned and managed Edwards-on-Wentworth, a summer resort on Lake Wentworth, where she enjoyed hosting festive bingo and movie nights and playing the piano for sing-a-longs in the restaurant.

Mrs. Zulauf was an active part of the Wolfeboro community including member of the Wolfeboro Chapter of A.A.U.W., an officer in the Wolfeboro Historical Society, Friends of the Library, and Friends of the Libby Museum, a board member at Hearthstone Homes, and a volunteer at Huggins Hospital. She was always quick to share a joke or the proper way to clean and never turned down dessert. In later years, you could find her sitting on her deck overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee, dog in lap, happy to tell a story (or two) of her beloved Wolfeboro.

She is survived by her daughter Susan (Zulauf) Sharp and husband Patrick of Concord, MA; grandson Douglas Sharp, wife Amy, and son Grayson of Hudson, MA; and granddaughter, Whitney (Sharp) Herchek, husband Andrew, and son Noah of Concord, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Zulauf’s honor to the Wolfeboro Town Library, Barnstormers Summer Theatre in Tamworth, N.H., or your local humane society.

There will be no calling hours.  A private service will be held at a later date.
