Blanche V. Grant, 98, passed away on July 26, 2016 at Mountain View Community in Ossipee NH after a year long illness.
She was born in Haverhill Mass. on November 21, 1917 the daughter of Olive (Preble) and Henry V. Champy. She married Kenneth J. Grant (deceased) on May 21, 1936. She is survived by two children, Joan LeClair and husband George of Tuftonboro NH and Kenneth Grant and wife Siegrid of Wiesbaden Germany. Blanche also leaves six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great, great granddaughters. She was a long time resident of the Greater Haverhill Mass. area.
In addition to being a devoted wife and mother she also worked in the food industry.  The last twenty years being in the Groveland Mass. school system as the Bagnall School Lunch Director receiving several accolades for her creative approach to providing lunches - delighting students and teachers alike.
Her dedication and work ethic led her to continually take courses in business management, nutrition, cooking preparation and knowing what to do with government provided commodities. The prudent use of government commodities such as Hamburg, chicken, flour shortening, butter and sugar resulted in her cafeteria operating in the black year after year.
She enjoyed gardening and playing the organ, an instrument she became quite adept at without ever taking a lesson. Upon retiring in June 1982 she and her husband relocated to Melbourne, Florida enjoying the sunshine and making many friends. By summering in New Hampshire they were able to keep in touch with old friends.
After Kenneth died in 1999 Blanche remained in Florida for six more years before deciding to move to New Hampshire to be closer to family. She attended First Christian Church in Wolfeboro.
In March 2011 she joined the Mountain View Community where she was an encouragement to fellow residents and staff.
Blanche will be sadly missed by family and friends but we are comforted knowing she is rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.
Calling hours are at Lord Funeral Home Route 28 Wolfeboro, NH on Friday August 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
The memorial service will be held at First Christian Church 83 North Main St. Wolfeboro on August 6th at 11:00 AM.
