Donald Bruce Ashton, 69, of Elm Street, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at his home.

Don was born July 1st, 1948 in Waltham, Mass to Doris (Whitcomb) Ashton and Donald Ashton, who added two girls to the family, Janet Brodie Ashton of New York and Nancy Ashton who succumbed to MS in 2005.  He graduated from Danvers H.S. in 1966 and went on to get his BS in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University and his MBA from the University of Houston.

In 2002 he married Ursula Broussard. His stunning career took him all over the world, his favorites were the 9 years he and Ursula spent working in Dubai. After retiring in 2014 they moved to the family homestead in Ossipee, NH.

He became very active in the Ossipee Historical Society where he arranged to have Grant Hall restored and has also taken on the Early Settler’s Meeting House as well as staffing the Ossipee Historical Society Museum at Grant Hall with his wife Ursula.

He was also very active with the Friends of Colonial Pemaquid in Maine where he chaired the educational committee and arranged for all lectures during the 7-week lecture series, always giving one talk himself. During the summer months he and Ursula spent every Monday / Tuesday in New Harbor, Maine.

Don had a love for travel.  He was a member of the “Century Club”, a club in which you had traveled 100 approved destinations around the world.  He was also known for collecting souvenirs from the places that he traveled.

Don was predeceased by his father, Donald who passed away in 1992, his mother Doris, who passed away in 2003, his sister Nancy as well as step-son David Broussard.

He is survived by his wife Ursula Ashton, Ossipee, NH, his  sister Janet, Aunt Sue and husband Bill Hays and uncle Richard Whitcomb along with numerous nieces and nephews, step-son Sean Broussard and step-granddaughters Lauren Rodriguez and Heidi Broussard,  along with Lauren’s daughters Arianna and Adaline Rodriguez.

There will be no calling hours.  Memorial services will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee, NH.  A reception will follow the service at Harley Jack's Restaurant, Rt. 16, Ossipee, NH
