Donald M. Moodie, 85, of College Road, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at Concord, Hospital, Concord, NH.

He was born July 10, 1930 and raised in Montclair, NJ the son of the late William C. and Ethel (Barber) Moodie.  He was married to Carolyn (Brenner) Moodie in 1953 and remained in Montclair for several years before building a home in Mendham Township, NJ where they raised their family.  In the early 1980’s they moved to Wolfeboro, NH after spending many summers by Lake Winnipesaukee.

He graduated from Lehigh University in 1952 and immediately entered US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954.  There he served in the Army Counter Intelligence Corp stationed in the Far East Command. 

Following the military, Donald was a Business Executive and then became the President of Calculagraph Company and Control Products in East Hanover, NJ.  He was also a former Board Member of the Employer’s Association of New Jersey, and a Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Brookside Community Church, Brookside, NJ.  He then became Chairman of Greenerd Press and Machine Company, Inc. Nashua, NH.  During that time he became a board member of the Smaller Business Association of New England.

He was a former aircraft owner, holding his Pilot’s License and Instrument rating.  He became a member of the AOPA, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.  He was a long time member of the Timber Framers Guild.

During his retirement he married his wife Janet (Taylor) Moodie in May of 2002.  Donald became involved in helping Habitat for Humanity, working on the rebuilding of the barn for the Wolfeboro Historical Society, and worked at the Wolfeboro Food Pantry for over five years. He and his wife became members of the First Congregational Church of Wolfeboro, NH.

He is survived by his wife Janet (Taylor) Moodie, Wolfeboro, NH, his daughter Lynn M. Elkinton, Wolfeboro, NH and his grandchildren Hannah of Concord, NH, and Meg of Somerville, MA.  He also leaves a sister Ozzie Hansen, Wolfeboro, NH, and a brother William C. Moodie Jr., Basking Ridge, NJ, and nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed his step-grandchildren Eli, Priti, and Smita Boesch Dining, and Erin Watt and John Taylor DeStefano, coming to visit the farm.

He was predeceased by his wife Carolyn Moodie and a son Douglas Scott Moodie.

There will be no calling hours.  Funeral Services will be held Friday May 13, 2016 at 2:00pm at the First Congregational Church, South Main Street, Wolfeboro, NH.  Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Wolfeboro, NH.
