Wolfeboro, NH

ERNEST F. BAUER, JR

Ernest F. “Ernie” Bauer, 68 Of Wolfeboro, NH, was born in New York City on Oct 24, 1949, and he passed away peacefully at the Wolfeboro Bay Center, Wolfeboro, NH on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, with close friends at his side.

Ernie was raised in Rockland County, NY, and he received his high school degree from Pearl River High School.  From birth to high school graduation, he lived in a 3 generation household which included his beloved grandparents, Anna (Nana) and Ernst Bauer.  Ernie’s Bachelor’s Degree was awarded from SUNY Oswego, after which he moved to Wolfeboro, NH to teach at Kingswood Regional High School. It was not long, however, before Ernie’s talents in fine carpentry led him to becoming a general contractor.  This career spanned more than 35 years and countless homes and businesses in the greater Wolfeboro/Tuftonboro area were erected or elsewise benefited as a result.

In addition to his fine craftsmanship and attention to detail, Ernie was also well known for his generosity, gentle nature and incomparable sense of humor.  Spreading cheer was an important goal and a daily occupation for him.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Harriet and Ernest Bauer, Sr. of Fort Myers, FL and by his brother, Robert, who was killed in 1970 while serving in the military in Vietnam.  He is survived by cousins Dorothy Woolum and Karen DeGilio, of California, and Marion Anderson, of Colorado, as well as many friends, both near and far.

A celebration of Ernie’s life will be scheduled for a later time and family suggests that those wishing to remember Ernie may make a contribution in his name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis (www.stjude.org), or to their own favorite charity.
