Ernest Ray Perkins Sr.,  76, of Middle Road, Tuftonboro, NH died Dec. 28, 2012 at his home with family by his side.

Ernest was raised in Farmington, NH, where he attended school.  He also attended Epsom School for a period of time.  After his schooling he worked for AJ Cameron laying sod and seeding.  He was also employed by Albion Libby as a logger, and later working for Charles Whitten, assisting with farming.  His passion for farming grew, so he became self-employed so he could enjoy farming for himself.  He liked his chickens and pigs.

He was married on May 25, 1962 to Florence Dore, which they both recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.   During their time together they enjoyed taking vacations to Montana to visit Yellowstone National Park, Pittsburg, NH, and Lancaster County, PA.  When they would travel, Ernest always was the driver.

Ernest had a love for golfing at the Farmington Country Club and bowling at PJ Lanes in Wolfeboro.   He enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was a member of the Tuftonboro Grange for approximately 30 years.  When outside his home, Ernest would have a hat on, but when he would come inside the hat would always come off and hang on the back of the chair.

He is survived by his wife Florence along with his three children.  Ernest Perkins Jr, of Barnstead, David Perkins, of Tuftonboro, and Wayne Perkins and his wife Joy, of Tuftonboro.  He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters Robert Perkins, of Amherst, MA, Ralph Perkins, of Athens, TN, Katherine Long, of Acton, ME, Mary Cashman of Lynn, MA, and Ella Brown of Maryland.  He has three grandchildren, Shane Perkins, of Laconia, Amber Perkins, of Barnstead, and Maria Diamond, of Effingham.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
