Eugene E Smith 87, US Navy Veteran, died peacefully Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Hospice House in Concord, NH surrounded by his loving family.

Born November 1, 1930 in North Adams, MA to the late Ralph L. and Frances Lee Smith. Gene was the beloved husband to Sally A. (Davies) of Arlington MA. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in November.  He was also the loving father to David and his wife Maureen of Manchester, NH, Judith Peterson and her husband Donald of Dracut, MA, Donna Aldred and her husband John of Tewksbury, MA and Daniel Smith of Laconia, NH. He was a loving grandfather to John Aldred Jr., Shannon Marquis, the late Derek Aldred, Katie Sokol, the late Keri Aldred, Stephanie Smith, Briana Smith, Amanda Smith, Nathan Peterson, Jason Peterson and 10 great grandchildren, who loved him dearly. He also left behind many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was very proud of his family!  

Eugene was a Locomotive Engineer for the Boston and Maine Railroad for over 35 years.

Gene and Sally moved to Effingham, NH after they semi-retired where they have lived for the past 38 years.

A celebration of life will be planned in February.  He will be laid to rest in the spring in Bennington, VT.
