Gary Eugene Hodge, 74, died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Tidewell Hospice, Port Charlotte, Florida after a brave battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Gary was born December 4, 1941 in Wolfeboro, NH the son of Myrtle (Langley) Hodge and the late Eugene William Hodge.  He was raised in Center Ossipee, NH; Gary was a member of the Moultonville United Methodist Church.  He attended Kennett High School, Class of 1959, Conway, NH as well as the NH Technical Institute, Northeastern University and Lowell University.  He served in the New Hampshire National Guard from 1959 – 1963 and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1963 – 1967.  Gary was a member of the Deep Creek Elks #2763, Punta Gorda, FL and a resident of Port Charlotte Village.

For over 30 years, Gary enjoyed a career as a Mechanical Engineer for RCA/GE/Lockheed-Martin in Burlington, MA.  He was especially proud of his participation in the US Apollo Program/Lunar Excursion Module which contributed to the success of landing the man on the moon in 1969.

Gary lived in Billerica, MA where he and his wife Alice grew daylilies and raised two  daughters, Sandra and Kristen.  He retired in 2002 and moved to Effingham, NH where he built a new house with his friend Wayne Cummings and remarried.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Brooks) Hodge, Port Charlotte, FL, his mother Myrtle Hodge, Laconia, NH, his brother Allyn Hodge and his wife Eileen, Laconia, NH, his sister-in-law Alice Hodge, Enfield, CT., his daughters Sandra Hawkes and her husband Ray, Glendale, AZ., and Kristen Gobbi and her husband Paul, Milford, MA and his grandchildren Cody Camp, Jenna Golden, Alaina Gobbi, and Lauren Gobbi and his step daughters Diane Butler and her husband Bill, Hooksett, NH, Susan McCue, North Conway, NH, his step grandsons Calahan McCue and Bryce Butler, many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews as well as the Brooks and Publicover families.

Gary was predeceased by his first wife of 29 years, Alice (Fleischer) Hodge, his father Eugene Hodge, his brother Wayne Hodge, his step-son-in-law David McCue and his step-grandson Gaige McCue.

Gary lived life to the fullest enjoying a passion for fishing, hunting, gardening and golf.  He will be forever missed by his many friends and family both in NH and FL.

A Celebration of his life and burial service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11:00am at the family lot in Chickville Cemetery, Center Ossipee, NH.
