Welcome to the memorial page for

Glenn P. Evans

November 25, 1934 ~ September 8, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Tamworth, NH

Glenn Potter Evans, 82, a lifetime resident of Tamworth, passed away suddenly in his home on Friday, September 8th, 2017. He was the son of Almon Grover Evans and Gladys (Corbett) Evans. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Cora (Grace) Evans. Tamworth, NH; his son, Frank Evans and his wife Lynne, Tamworth, NH; his daughter, Joan Evans, Lebanon, CT; and by his five grandchildren, Diana, Almon, Frankie, Nicole, and Sebastian, to whom he was their beloved “Pappy”. He is also survived by his older brother, Gordon Evans, Tamworth, NH and his younger sisters, Martha Williams, Tamworth, NH and Herberta Whiting, Water Village, NH. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as by his older siblings Lorraine Streeter, Almon Evans, Jr., Alton Evans, and Gloria Sulzer.

Glenn was a hard-working, self-made man who knew every inch of every road in Tamworth from top to bottom, having worked on or taken care of most of them at some time in his life. Along with working for his father when Almon was Road Agent, Glenn also worked for his family’s excavation business until his mother passed in 1979, at which point he started the business over as G.P. Evans & Son Excavation with son Frank, and co-owned it for 38 years until his death.

Although ‘retired’ for many years, he was known to hop up onto the tractor or into a truck when there was work to be done. Glenn was passionate about his family, his business, his land, and his town; he was a fixture in Tamworth Village who could be found at his favorite stool in The Other Store every single morning or cruising slowly from one end of town to the other on the roads he loved so much. His presence, his stories, his jokes, his laugh, and his determined spirit will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Life is to take place on Friday, September 22, at 1:00pm in the Tamworth Congregational Church, with a reception to follow in the old Tamworth Town Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Glenn’s name to The Tamworth Nurses’ Association, PO Box 352, Tamworth, NH  03886, who took good care of him for many years, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
