Ivernia "Ivy" V. Thompson

August 4, 1933 ~ December 21, 2016 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Freedom, NH

Ivernia V. (Chulyk) Thompson (“Ivy”) of Freedom, NH died and went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

Ivy was born in Peabody, MA on August 4, 1933 to Harry and Velma (McAllister) Chulyk.  She graduated from Peabody High School in 1951 and Burdett College in 1953.  She worked as a medical secretary for several years before going to work at General Electric in Lynn, where she met her future best friend and husband George Thompson.  They married in 1957, settled in Tewksbury, MA and within 8 years, they had three sons.  A few years later, they decided to complete their family by adopting a baby girl.

Ivy was member of Tewksbury Congregational Church for many years and more recently the First Christian Church of Freedom.

Ivy was a loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother and her happiest days were spent with her family; whether it was on the holidays, when everyone would gather at her house, or up at the lake, where everyone was always welcome and there was more than enough love to go around.

She is survived by her husband, George Thompson, Freedom, NH; her sister Geraldine Pierni of Freedom, NH, her sons David and his wife Dottie of Londonderry, NH, Mark and his wife Lori of Royalston, MA, and Robert and his fiancée Andrea Carney of Bradford, MA and her daughter Nancy Perrin and her husband Ron of Apex, NC, as well as 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 2:00pm at the First Christian Church of Freedom.  A graveside service will be held in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Ivy’s memory.
