James (Jim) F Savage Sr., 73, formerly of Everett and Avon MA, and Wolfeboro NH passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Robley Rex VA Hospital in Louisville KY after being diagnosed with ALS in December. He was surrounded and supported by his wife, children and friends.

Jim graduated from Everett High School in 1961. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps where he obtained the rank of Lance Corporal while serving with VMF-333 out of MCAS Beaufort SC. During his time in the Marines Jim was at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also travelled to Puerto Rico, Norway, and Iceland in support of various missions. After his time in the Marine Corps Jim returned to MA and went to work for General Electric. He worked in many different parts of the plant including, turbine, the gear plant, and power plants. After retiring from GE in 1996 he went to work for the Governor Wentworth School District at Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro NH. He worked as the in-school suspension proctor, hall monitor, and campus security. Jim finally retired in June of 2015. He and his wife Lynn, who have been married since Aug 27, 1993 decided to move to Taylorsville KY to be closer to their daughter, son in law, and granddaughter.

Jim had a love of many outdoor activities including golf, deep-sea fishing, hunting in his younger years, and most sports. He was a true Boston sports fan and passed that love onto his children.  Through the years he coached many teams.  Coaching baseball and softball for his children.  He coached the Kingswood Middle School football team and coached lacrosse for Kingswood Regional High School.

Jim is survived by his wife Lynn (Bourgeois), daughters Kimberly Metivier, of Windham NH, Cynthia Albert and her husband Ed of Stoughton MA, Melissa Gruner and her husband Jason of Louisville KY. Sons James (Jim) F. Jr. and his wife Stacey of Wolfeboro NH, Gregory and his wife Sandria of Salem NH, and Richard Stanley Jr of Louisville KY. He also leaves behind his brothers Vincent and Kenneth, and a sister Dorothy Desmond.  Jim has seven granddaughters, three grandsons and two great-granddaughters. He also has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was predeceased by his parents Vincent Thomas and Dorothy Eleanor (Collins) and his son Cpl Matthew Stanley.

Calling hours will be at Lord Funeral Home in Wolfeboro NH on Thursday, July 7 from 3-5pm. Interment will be at The New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH on Friday July 8 at 1:30PM. There will be a Memorial Service for friends and family at Kingswood Regional High School, South Main Street, Wolfeboro, NH on Friday July 8, 2016 from 5-8pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Cpl. Matthew J Stanley Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Kingswood Regional High School, 396 South Main St, Wolfeboro NH 03894.
