December 25, 1916 ~ November 27, 2016 (age 99) 99 Years Old

Born in Lunenburg, MA on December 25, 1916 to May Elizabeth Gallup and Franklin Crockett Wiley

He and Beverly Arlene Sherwood eloped to The Old North Church in Boston, New Year’s Eve 1939.

They had two children: David Conant Wiley currently of Leesburg, FL, Ann Sherwood Wiley Olkkola of Ossipee, NH His family went on to include four grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren: His granddaughter and husband:Kate Elizabeth Wiley Prendergast of Dover, NH and Patrick Prendergast His grandsons and their families: Jared and Lucy Olkkola of Dover, NH Great granddaughters: Phoebe, Emelia, Charlotte, Delilah Justin and Sarah Olkkola of Ossipee, NH Great grandson Tyler and great granddaughter Alexis Jacob and Michelle Olkkola of Newark, Delaware Great granddaughters Caroline and Jocelyn and great grandson Jedidiah.  He was predeceased by his wife Beverly, sister, Alice Knight and brother, Roger Wiley

He and Beverly moved from Pepperell, MA [where they had lived many years] to Cape Cod in 1948. There he was a carpenter and foreman for a building company until his retirement. They owned the Scrimshaw Shop in Dennisport, MA for several years.

Beverly and Joe moved to Ossipee, NH in 1983 to be closer to their children after Beverly was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He was devoted to Beverly as her disease progressed, most days walking to visit her at the nursing home. Those many days of walking gave him the strength in his legs to enable him to whisk about Mt. View Community in his wheelchair (who needs a motorized chair). Joe was a self-taught, accomplished woodworker and artist. And he became a master of the lemon cake - a family favorite for all occasions.  Although a few months early, this past August, friends and relatives from several states gathered to celebrate his 100th year.

Calling hours and a brief memorial will be on December 2, 2016 – 1:00-3:00 at Lord’s Funeral Home Wolfeboro, NH.
