Kai Rasmussen, 95, died peacefully at Mineral Springs in North Conway, NH, on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

Kai was born August 3rd, 1920, in Copenhagen, Denmark, to Alex and Anna Rasmussen. His family came to the United States in the 1920’s and settled in the South River, NJ area. He spent his childhood there until joining the US Army in 1942 and served his country honorably until he ended his service in 1945.

After the military he began work with a plastics company in New Jersey, and later purchased that company with some associates. They later moved that company to Massachusetts where he met and married Maureen O’Neil in 1977, soon after moving to Silver Lake, NH.

In 1985, Kai and his wife were charter members of the Quality Life Association, which is one of many national support groups that are vital to people with special needs. In 2001, Kai and his wife received the Barnett Harbinger Award, given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Quality Life Association by helping to improve the quality of life of individuals suffering from inflammatory bowel disease.

            Kai is predeceased by his wife Maureen, and is survived by his sisters Karen Brown and Alice Waylett, and many nieces and nephews.

            A time of visitation will be held at Lord Funeral Home at 50 Moultonville Road in Center Ossipee, NH on January 31, 2016, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. A mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 2:00 P.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Center Ossipee, NH. Burial will take place at Chocorua Colville Cemetery at a later date.
