Alton, NH

Marjorie E. Chamberlain, RN, age 88, died on March 10, 2017 at home in Alton, NH. Born 1928 in Coventry, RI she was the daughter of Merrill S Whipple and Lilla Weeks Whipple. 

Margie completed nurses training at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, RI in 1949. She worked at hospitals in RI, PA, and MA, spent her summers in NH, and after becoming a year round resident in 1970, worked on the maternity ward at Huggins Hospital.

Margie was active in her church. She served as Sunday School superintendent at Washington Methodist Church in RI, sang in the choir at Alton Community Church in NH, and Grace Brethren Church near Silver Springs FL where she spent winter months from 1988-2005. 

Margie had a passion for travel. She toured Israel, drove across the United States three times, visited all 50 states, and spent a year living in Kauai, HI. She also loved to write. Her works include several books and many short stories.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Dutton, Barrington, Nicholas Santulli, Tuftonboro, Katherine Fraser, Alton, and Robert Santulli, Portsmouth NH; six stepchildren; seven grandchildren; ten step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother Charles W. Whipple, Ontario Canada; a niece and nephew.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Oakland Cemetery in Coventry, RI.
