Wolfeboro – Nancy June Files (Allen) Ramos, 71, of Wolfeboro, passed away on June 8th 2016 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH, surrounded by loving family.

The daughter of Samuel P. Files and Florence J. Turner, she was born November 23rd 1944 in Portland, ME. Upon graduating from Greeley High School, class of ’63, in Cumberland Center, ME, she married her first husband Dennis R. Allen of Cumberland, ME. They have four beautiful daughters. On May 3rd 1994, she married Alfred Ramos of Somersworth, NH and they soon after became residents of the town of Wolfeboro, NH.

During her time as a resident of Wolfeboro, she worked as a teller and customer service representative at the Community Bank and Trust Company. Prior to moving to NH she worked at the Allen Family Farm Center and Store, and was a teller at the People’s Heritage Bank in Falmouth, ME.

Her journey into public service began in the 1960’s where she became the President and Secretary of the Cumberland Firemen Women’s Auxiliary in the state of Maine.She later continued her efforts as an active member in The Eastern Star (O.E.S) and NH Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) organizations. During this time she acquired many achievements including; Initiation into Winnegance #119 O.E.S. (1978), Worthy Matron of Yarmouth, ME (1984), Mother Advisor of Yarmouth Assembly #28 (1989), Worthy Matron of Winnegance #119 while commuting from NH to ME (2001), Worthy Matron of Warren-Alpha #10 (2003-2005), Grand Representative to TN in NH (2005), Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter of NH (2005), Grand Representative to NM in NH (2008), Regent of the Winnipesauke Chapter of the NH Daughters of the American Revolution (2010-2016), Robert Morris Recipient (2014), NH State Organizing Secretary (2016), and Mayflower Society Historian (2016).

As Worthy Matron of Winnegance Chapter No.119, she was proud to support and initiate two of her daughters, Pamela and Deborah Allen into the order; Her daughter Lisa joined an additional Chapter. Her daughters were all Past Worthy Advisors of Yarmouth Assemble #28 of Rainbow. The order of the Eastern Star was a positive influence in her life. Her years at Winnegance Chapter were very precious to her. The friendships made and experiences gained were cherished.

Nancy and her husband Al loved to travel and she was a committed learner of family genealogy. Her passion for understanding lineage was undeniable, and it brought her great joy to express knowledge of history and ancestry to both family and community members.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 22 years Alfred Ramos; Her children with Dennis Allen and their families: Pamela Allen Pattee, Deborah Thoits Grover and her husband Ben, Lisa Allen and her partner Jamie Roberts, and Denise Allen, and 4 grandchildren, Jacob and Cody Thoits, Samuel and Marissa Pattee; Her husband’s children and their families: Lance Ramos and his wife Nicole, Neil Ramos and his wife Starr, Stephanie Young and her husband Keith, and 9 grandchildren, Meagan and Heather Ramos, Christina Sargent and husband Kevin, Tyler and Gavin Ramos, and Josh and Alec Young, Dylan and Sky Ramos as well as 3 great grandchildren Levi and Brooke Sargent and Olivia Young.  

Nancy leaves behind her siblings and their families including Patricia Files Higgins and her daughter Tianna Marie Higgins, David Files and his wife Beatrize Files and their son Chris Files.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family as well as by her extended family including brother in law Victor Ramos, sister in law and brother in law Adele and Gerry Lynch, nephews Erick and Jason Lynch and sisters in law Evelyn Ramos and Elaine Colman.
