Nelson Roger Glidden, 88, formerly of Wolfeboro, NH, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital, St. Petersburg, FL.

He was born June 7, 1928 in Wolfeboro, NH the son of the late Gordon and Abbie (Hall) Glidden.  Nelson was raised in Wolfeboro and had attended Brewster Academy for three years when he enlisted and served proudly served in the US Marine Corp during WWII.  Following his tour of duty to his country he returned to Wolfeboro and graduated from Brewster Academy.

In 1951 he married Joan D. Frye, to whom he was married for 30 years, and together they had their two children, Heather and Mark.

Nelson was a noted and respected Potter operating his pottery shop in South Wolfeboro for several years.  Nelson was the first to have college instructions at his home.  Also after his graduation from Brewster he had worked for Coin Electric Company in Boston, MA and later worked on the diesel engines for the Wolfeboro Electric Company

Nelson was a former member of the International Order of Odd Fellows in Wolfeboro and also a member of the Masonic Order as well as a member of the Shriners, Bektash Temple in Concord, NH. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.  He also served as past president of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship of Conway, NH.

He later in years he remarried to Alice (Michelsen) Glidden and enjoyed 35 years together and had lived in Meredith, NH spending winters in Bradenton, FL. for the past 20 years

Nelson is predeceased by his wife Alice (Michelsen) Glidden of Bradenton, FL.  He is survived by his daughter Heather J. Glidden, Wolfeboro, NH and a son Mark N Glidden, Sunapee, NH, 6 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters and a sister Claire Hlushuk, Tuftonboro, NH.  He also leaves behind his stepchildren Kenneth Schmidt, Warner, NH, Karen Moore Anchorage, Alaska, Elizabeth Michelsen-Jonas, Kalispell, Montana and predeceased by a stepson Daniel Schmidt.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Lord Funeral Home, Wolfeboro, NH.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral following the calling hours.  Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Wolfeboro, NH.
