Effingham, N.H.

Sally Anne Davies Smith, 81, of Effingham, N.H. passed away peacefully at home February 23, 2018, two months after losing the love of her life, Eugene E. Smith.

Born in Cambridge, MA on July 12, 1936 to the late Albert and Elizabeth (Peaslee) Davies, Sally grew up in Arlington, MA. There, Sally and Gene raised their four children. Sally and Gene moved to Effingham, N.H. in 1979 where Sally was the first woman Rotarian. Sally also was the Manager of the West Ossipee branch of the North Conway Bank for many years.

Sally was the beloved wife to the late Eugene E. Smith. Sally was predeceased by her siblings, Judy, Edward, Dudley, William, Priscilla and Nancy, as well as her two loving grandchildren, Derek and Keri Aldred.

Sally will be remembered by her son David Smith and his wife Maureen from Manchester, N.H., her daughter Judith Peterson and her husband Donald of Dracut, MA, her daughter Donna Aldred and her husband John of Tewksbury, MA and her son Daniel Smith of Laconia, N.H.

Sally is the beloved Grandmother to her loving grandchildren John, Shannon, Katie, Stephanie, Briana, Amanda, Nathan and Jason. Sally was known as Gigi to her ten great grandchildren Gabriel, Madison, Alexis, Abigail, Boyce, Gracie, Xavier, Derek, Ryan and Emily and many nieces and nephews. Sally loved and enjoyed spending time with each and every one of them!

A celebration of life will be planned in March. She, along with Eugene, will be laid to rest in the spring in Bennington, VT.
