Samuel James Matson III, 85 of Wolfeboro, N.H. Passed away, Sunday, June 19, 2016, after a period of declining health. Sam was born and brought up in Concord, N.H.
He graduated from Concord High School, class of 1948. He then graduated from U.N.H., was a member of Acacia Fraternity, (Masonic Fraternity), member of ROTC, graduated in 1952. Sam was then commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. After being discharged, Sam became an agent for The Federal Bureau of Investigation, (F.B.I.). He was an agent for 26 years, working in Detroit, N.Y.C., Sullivan County, N.Y., Boston, finally returning to Concord, N.H. At this time Sam went to Riviera College and received his Masters Degree. After retiring, Sam began his own business, conducting private investigations and doing back ground checks for the government.
Sam was a member of the Lions Club, a Boy Scout Leader, and a Mason. All his life he was active in the Episcopal Church. Most recently a proud member of the All Saints Church, community in, Wolfeboro, N.H.
Sam enjoyed people, camping, music, movies, traveling, family and pecan pie!
He was pre deceased by his father, Judge Donald G. Matson, his Mother, Shirley P. Matson and his wife of 58 years, Charlotte (Leacy) Matson.
Members of his family include his daughter Pamela Matson, a son Stephen Matson and his wife Judi, his daughter Sharon Johnson and her husband Burton. Sam has 4 grandchildren, Sam, Max, Nicole, and Paul, 6 great grandchildren as well as a sister Judy Fry a nephew Tom and his family, and a cousin, Betty Dickerson.

There will be a service celebrating Sam's life, at 1:00PM on Thursday, July 7, at All Saints Episcopal Church, Wolfeboro, N.H. Sam will be inurned at the State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, N.H. with a private service and Military Honors, at a later date.
