Thelma Louise Holmes Rico  1929 – 2017

Concord, NH

Thelma Rico passed away on Tuesday December 19th at Concord Hospital after her loving family had bid her farewell.

Born on February 13, 1929 to Ralph and Inez Holmes, Thelma attended Carpenter School and Brewster Academy  in Wolfeboro.  She married her grammar school sweetheart Peter Rico in 1948.  She was a member of the Order of Rainbow  and Rebecca Lodge and also served as a Girl Scout leader.

Thelma worked in the hot lunch program at Carpenter School for many years, and later worked at PJ Lanes Bowling Alley while also keeping  the books for Pete’s service station and laundromat.  More recently, up until retirement she was the voice that answered ‘Good Evening Huggins Hospital’ on the switchboard at the hospital where her daughter, grandsons and great-grandchildren were born.

Thelma and Pete lived in Wolfeboro until 2005 when they moved to Concord to be closer to family.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her grandson Andrew Stockman in 1986 and her husband Pete in 2008.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Gary Byers of Warner, her grandson Adam Stockman of Tuftonboro, great-grandson Ethan Stockman of Concord and great-grand daughter Anna Stockman of Exeter.

“Nan’s” greatest joy was spending time with her four-generation family; she was so proud and happy to have them all in her life.  She has left a void in many lives that will be filled with happy and loving memories for many years to come.  Her kind, loving spirt and strong will has been an inspiration to us all.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lord’s Funeral Home. Services will be scheduled for spring and will be announced at a later date.
