William F. Carroll, 71, of Tamworth, NH passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH.

He was born April 16, 1946 in Boston, MA the son of the late William R. and Kathryn Audrey Carroll.  Bill had lived in Charlestown, MA for many years later moving to Stoughton, MA before retiring to West Ossipee where he and his wife lived for 17 years then moving to Tamworth, NH after a tragic house fire.

Following the loss of his home in West Ossipee, NH, he was named Hero of the Month in February of 2007 which was recognized by the Governor of New Hampshire, Governor John Lynch, for the heroic rescue of his wife from the fire.

William, known to his friend as “Grumpy Bill” had worked as an Emergency Medical Technician at the Boston City Hospital for several years then worked as a security officer, when he moved to Ossipee and worked at the M&V Convenience Store for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Janet Carroll, Tamworth, NH a daughter Kelly Carroll, Tamworth, NH two grandsons William and Wyatt Carroll, Tamworth, NH a sister Brenda Beckwith, Billerica, MA and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.  At his request there will be no services.
