William James Nason of Freedom New Hampshire born August 31, 1942 in Gray Maine, previously of North Reading and Reading Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home on September 23, 2017, surrounded by his loving wife of 53 years Pauline, his daughters, sisters, grandchildren and friends. William is the Son of the late Jesse William and Mary Bernadine Nason also of Freedom NH.
He served as a North Reading Police Officer for more than 25 years, retiring in 1994 with the rank of Senior Patrolman, badge #1. He also owned and operated a landscaping company for more than 50 years.
He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as Specialist in the 540th Aircraft Company of the U.S. Army. He was a brother in the Masonic lodges of Freedom, NH and North Reading, Massachusetts. His favorite activities included spending time with family, landscaping and gardening his Freedom NH property, pinochle, hunting, roulette, candlepin bowling, and decorating his property with a stunning display of lights for the holidays.
In addition to his wife, Pauline Mary Nason, he is survived by his daughter Doreen Nason Mumper and her husband, Roger, his daughter Kathleen Nason Hachey and her husband, Andrew, and his daughter Lynette Bernadine Nason and her partner, James Belanger. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Roger Lee Mumper III, Tabitha Hachey Polito and her husband Jason, William Patrick Mumper, Tarryn Hachey Balch and her husband David, and Daniel Jesse Mumper. He also has one great-granddaughter, Tessa Josephine Balch. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Ann Tompkins and her husband Richard, his sister Joanne Judith Bodnar and her husband Ronald, and a loving extended family.
Services will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 12pm at the First Christian Church, 12 Elm Street, Freedom NH. The burial will be at the Lakeview Cemetery 95-121 Old Portland RD Freedom NH 03836.
