Casper Crouse III Obituary

Casper A. "Skip" Crouse passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2024. Skip was born in Hudson, New York but grew up in Tucson, Arizona and graduated from Catalina High School in 1963. He attended Kenyon College in Ohio and graduated with a BA in English and Drama in 1967. From 1967-68 he attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education and taught English in the Newton, MA public schools.

From 1968 to 1971 Skip enlisted and served in the US Army as a combat and psychiatric medic treating medevaced American neuropsychiatric casualties from Viet Nam at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu. Skip often said, "The only mistake I made in life and regretted was leaving Hawaii." After discharge Skip returned to complete his Masters in the Teaching of English at Harvard and taught English in Melrose, MA.

In 1974 Skip moved to Effingham, NH where he farmed, worked construction, and served as Effingham Town Clerk for a number of years. He also served as member and chairman of the Governor Wentworth Regional School District, as a member of the Effingham Fire Department, as a founding member of the Effingham Rescue Squad, and as an Advanced First Aid instructor.

In 1982 he moved to Wolfeboro to share a home with Pamela Gray, whom he married in 1984, and her two daughters, Abbie and Aimee Savard. Skip was the proud father of Abbie and Aimee as well as Casper Adam Crouse IV, born in 1987, and Katelyn Ashley Crouse, born in 1990. It was in Wolfeboro that Skip returned to teaching when he received his special education certificate and taught in the special education program at Kingswood Regional High School. In 1984 he accepted a position teaching at Moultonborough Academy, eventually teaching English 9-12, World History, Psychology, and AP English Literature as well as directing several plays, until he retired from teaching in 2012. He continued living in Wolfeboro until his passing.

Skip is survived by his wife, Pamela Gray-Crouse of Wolfeboro, daughter Abbie Clark and her husband Corey of Hope Valley, RI, daughter Aimee Savard Bentley and her husband Ryan of West Newbury, MA, his son Casper Adam Crouse IV of Aliquippa, PA and his daughter Katelyn Ashley Crouse of Norton, MA, as well as his granddaughters Brooke Bentley, Grace and Emmie Clark, grandsons Alex Bentley and Cole Bentley and his nephew Arthur “Bub” Crouse of Tucson, AZ.
