Charles Frederick Batchelder

Charles Frederick Batchelder died on March 15, 2024 at Mountain View in Ossipee, NH at the age of 88. He was born on October 30, 1935 in Marblehead, MA to the late Joseph and Margaret (March) Batchelder.

Charlie graduated from Kimball Union Academy and went on to Brown University where he graduated in 1958. Charlie was a great athlete excelling in hockey, football, tennis and especially golf.

He is survived by his wife Jane, whom he married in 1966. Charlie and Jane lived in Wellesley, MA where they raised their sons, Gris (Cindy) and Roger (Laura). In 2004, he retired and moved to Center Tuftonboro, NH permanently. He dearly loved his three grandchildren; Davis, Charlotte and Avery. He was always excited to see them when they came to New Hampshire for their annual summer vacation. He is also survived by his sister Ellis (Michael Weatherly), his brother Joseph and several nieces and nephews.

Following his service in the Air Force, he embarked on a fulfilling career as a stock broker. His love of researching and picking stocks was matched only by his unwavering loyalty to his clients. He felt every up and down that they went through.

As a devoted and engaged father, he tirelessly supported his sons no matter what they were involved in - be it sports in their younger years or the business world as they got older. He loved organizing baseball or football games in the backyard and always made sure the score came out evenly!

Even after Charlie could no longer play golf, he loved watching it on TV and he followed all the Boston sports teams. His great joy was getting on his tractor and mowing the grass to maintain his golf course, “The Last Chance Country Club” in his back yard. He continued to play bridge well into his eighties with friends at the Bald Peak Colony Club.

His smile was infectious, he loved a good laugh and was so loyal to all his friends whether new ones or those he had known since high school and college. His family, who cherished him dearly, will forever miss his presence.

There will be a memorial mass held at St. Katharine Drexel Parish on Sunday June 30, 2024 at 1:00 pm. There will be a reception at Bald Peak to follow. All are welcome to attend.

The committal will take place at Townhouse Cemetery on July 1, 2024, time to be announced.

Lord Funeral Home of Wolfeboro, NH will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
