John Medico Obituary

John Alexander Medico

On March 25, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer, John Alexander Medico, 78, of Melvin Village, NH, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. John was born in Exeter, NH on August 2, 1945, to John (Sr.) and Pauline Medico and grew up in Derry, NH, attending Pinkerton Academy and NH College. As a young man he served in the Army National Guard before going on to a successful career in the athletic shoe industry, working for Nike, Avia, Saucony, and Ryka in South Korea, Taiwan, and China before retiring. For a brief period, John was the owner of a local NH business, Lakes Region Tile, following in the footsteps of a family trade.

John was a talented athlete in school and an avid sports fan and outdoors man. After graduating, John played on several softball teams in NH; the highlight of his softball experience was participating with his team in the 1974 ASA Men’s Open Slow Pitch Nationals. John was a devoted fan of his beloved Boston sports teams, the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins, celebrating their combined 30 championships in his lifetime. John also enjoyed bass fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee and hunting.

John was preceded in death by his father John (Sr.) and mother Pauline, and is survived by his wife Bonnie, daughter Shayne, and son Brett. The family will hold a private remembrance at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org) or the Granite VNA (https://www.granitevna.org) would be greatly appreciated.
