Alverna Hazel Colby, 79 passed away April 9, 2019 at home in Melvin Village after a brief illness with her family by her side.
Alverna was born April 16, 1939 in Malden Ma, to Ruth and Harris Shea.
She was a graduate of Salem State Teacher’s College and taught first grade for 16 years in Ipswich, Ma. After moving to Melvin Village she substitute taught at Carpenter, Tuftonboro, Ossipee and Moultonborough schools.
Alverna was a member of The Hikers Club and bowled on the woman’s league at Striker Haven in Melvin Village.
She had a love for Nascar and was a score keeper at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and was actively involved with the Lakes Region Ice Racing Club. Alverna had her own antique shop; Colby’s Collectables and worked at Mary’s Treasures in Wolfeboro and Tamworth. She also worked in the gift shop at Spectrum field baseball stadium for the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater, Florida during spring training.
Alverna is survived by her husband Reg Colby of 43 years and daughters Angela Reppucci and Terry Colby; granddaughters Cassandra Reppucci, Amanda and Natasha Moody; grandsons Greggory Reppucci and Reggie Moody; great grandchildren Hunter and Wyatt Monroe and Charlotte Rose Reppucci.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
