Barbara Thurston Obituary

Wolfeboro, NH

Barbara Jeanne Marie (Anderson) Thurston entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family Friday March 15, 2019 after a brief illness. Barbara was born on June 22, 1962 to Arthur and Francis Anderson in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was sister to Angela Connolly and proceeded by her  sister, Doreen Richards. Barbara was married to the love of her life, Scott Thurston for almost 30 years. Barbara was born to be a mother and her three children, Kristin, Nicholas, and Michael are a testament to her unwavering commitment to her family. She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a successful business woman, working various positions including Chief Operations Officer at Thursty Water Systems with her husband and spent the past three years working as a business analyst for Oracle in Burlington, Ma. She was also civic and community service driven having served on the Wolfeboro N.H. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 6 years and the offices of Vice-President and President for the last two years of her tenure. Volunteering with Toys for Tots, raising monies for organizations such as Moffitt Cancer Center, American Cancer Society and Big Brothers Big Sisters, just to name a few.

One of her most loved jobs was co-owning and co-directing the USA Ambassador National Pageant System with her daughter Kristin. The young ladies, families, and volunteers that came into her life through pageantry became an extension of her own family and she loved them dearly.
Barbara lived her life by a motto that she developed for the USA Ambassador Pageant: S.L.I.C.C. Success through Leadership Integrity Character and Confidence.  Those qualities radiated from every pore of her being. Whether she was traveling to fun Blues Festivals with her husband Scott and friends, conducting a nearly impossible “all hands webinar” in Budapest, Hungary or taking pageant girls on a mission trip to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, she maintained the same character and integrity ensuring successful adventures and long lasting remembrances to all she encountered along the way!
To know her was to love her as she loved us, with her whole heart! Though she may be gone, we all take piece of her legacy with us, may we all “Be the Good for Barbara”!
