Gregory Ernest Pratt, 58, passed away on September 23, 2017, in Columbia, South Carolina. Gregg was born August 22, 1959 in Wolfeboro, NH to Ernest and Roberta Pratt. Gregg was a graduate of Kingswood Regional High School and the New Hampshire Technical College in Berlin, where he studied Natural Resource Management.

Gregg entered the United States Air Force in 1982, and served with distinction for 23 years, retiring at the rank of Master Sargent in 2004. Gregg traveled the world with the Air Force, being stationed in Manila, Iceland, England, and various locations in the US. His last station was at Shaw AFB in South Carolina. Gregg settled in the Sumter, SC area after retirement and began a 12 year second career at Lowes Home Improvement, where he worked in the Garden Center.

His work won critical review from both the professional community and his many friends and fans of his work. Gregg was most at peace when he was in the woods, with his camera. Gregg was a kind and gentle soul, witty and caring. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family.

Gregg is survived by his father, Ernest Pratt, Brothers Robert  and his wife Donna, and Christopher and his wife Meryl;, and Sister Sandy and her husband Richard, nieces Hannah, Amy, and Kristen, and nephews Wade, Sam, and Steven. Gregg was predeceased by his mother Roberta in 2013.

Gregg loved the state parks in South Carolina. A memorial boardwalk in Gregg’s name is being constructed at Poinsett State Park. Donations can be made via mail to Gregg Pratt memorial Boardwalk Endowment, Poinsett Beautiful Places Alliance, 6660 Poinsett Park Rd, Wedgefield, SC 29168.  He would be honored to know that his friends have supported the park system he loved so much.
