Harry P. Eldridge, Jr. passed away at home on January 14, 2020 with family by his side. He was 92 years old.
Harry was born in Ossipee on January 6, 1928 to Harry P. Eldridge, Sr. and Vivian (Hobbs) Eldridge. Harry is survived by his wife of 43 years Shirley (Johnson) Eldridge, Sons Bruce Eldridge and his partner, Diane Carpenter, of Henniker, NH; Gregory Eldridge, and his wife Judith, of Wolfeboro, NH; Harry P. Eldridge III and his wife, Lori, of Pembroke, NH; Douglas Eldridge and his wife, Mary, of Tamworth, NH; Darrin Eldridge of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; and Christopher Beaudet of Manchester, NH; Daughters Rebecca (Eldridge) Helme of Contoocook, NH; Wynetta (Eldridge) John and her husband, Stephen, of Brattleboro, VT; and Christine (Eldridge) Stevens and her husband, John, of Center Conway, NH; Harry also leaves 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Harry was predeceased by his parents, former wife Christobel Eldridge, wife Beverly (Hillsgrove) Eldridge, brothers Rainsford Purrington, and Donald Eldridge, sisters Irene (Eldridge) White, Janet (Eldridge) Libby and Priscilla (Eldridge) Nudd.
Harry was a lifelong resident of Ossipee. Harry retired from Yield House (formerly Frankson's Furniture) in 1996. He was a member of the Order of the Redmen, and a longtime member of the West Ossipee Volunteer Fire Department. He had a great love of baseball and softball, coaching Little League teams for 17 years and umpiring for over 30 years, Harry was well known in Ossipee and surrounding communities for being a great umpire, Harry was very proud to umpire a game that his children or grandchildren were playing in!
Visiting hours are at the Crossroads Church, Route 16 West Ossipee on January 23, 2020 at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a Memorial service immediately following visiting hours.
