James H. Champagne Sr. 68, formerly of Eaglemere Road in Tuftonboro passed away March 3, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was lifelong resident of Wolfeboro, NH. He was born March 31, 1950, the son of the late Henry J. Champagne and Alice (Lampron) Champagne.
Jim worked as the chief mechanic for the Town of Wolfeboro for over 30 years. He was well known by everyone as the “go to guy” as well as a man that was always on the go, no matter what. Jim was a man you could never slow down whether at work or at home. Always fixing something or making sure the yard work was always a priority. He was an extremely giving and loving person and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Jim was a U.S. Vietnam Veteran and a member of the American Legion Harriman Hale Post 18.
He will be remembered by his family as a helping and loving man who always put people first before himself.
Jim is survived by his wife, Tammy Champagne of Tuftonboro, his son, James Champagne and wife Victoria Van Dyke of Ossipee, Daughter Angela Furber and husband John Furber of Tuftonboro, also survived by 5 grandchildren. He also is survived by his sister Gloria Hooper and husband Bill of Wolfeboro, and brothers Raymond Champagne and wife Janet of Haverhill, MA, and Roger Champagne and wife Diane of Wolfeboro. Jim also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Alice Champagne, brother Robert Champagne and sister Maria Glidden.
