Mrs. Janet “Jan” Harbison {Watts} died peacefully at Mountain View Community, on 08 October, 2019 in Ossipee, New Hampshire at the age of 84.
Janet is survived by her husband, Lafayette (Jim) Harbison; her children, Cameron Harbison; her sister Brenda Rendall of Mishawaka, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her son Lance Harbison, her parents Bernard and Vera Watts, and her sisters Iris Walker and Carolyn Williamson, both of Mishawaka, Indiana.
Janet was born on 30 May, 1935 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Bernard and Vera Watts. She graduated from Verdugo Hills High school in 1953. She married Lafayette Harbison, a Petty Officer in the US Coast Guard, in 1955. Over the next seven years, the couple welcomed three children into their home. One each born in: Los Angeles California, Queens New York, and Copenhagen Denmark. Her children remember her as a gentle and caring mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She loved the career military life.
Janet was an accomplished, and creative, seamstress and knitter. She was a generous individual who loved animals and was passionate about changing the world. Until limited by illness, she was an active and dedicated member of the First Congregational Church in Ossipee NH, and she often volunteered at Starting Point, Conway, NH, with Services for Victims of Domestic & Sexual Violence.
A funeral is scheduled for noon on Wednesday October 16, 2019 at Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee, NH. Rev. Murray Nickerson will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Janet’s life.
