Lynwood Perley Ryder

Lynwood P. Ryder “Spinny” 81 of Ossipee passed away at Mountain View Community (nursing home) on Sunday, August 26, 2018 with his family by his side.

He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his little sayings and jingles that he would sing.

Lynwood was born on September 5, 1936 in Newburgh, Maine to Perley and Gertrude Ryder (Kingston) both of Maine. 

At age 15 Lynwood went to work with his dad logging. Over the years he worked with other logging companies and then retired after 53 years. He worked very hard, back then logging was done the old fashion way and with horses. When he first went to work for his father he had to shovel the trees out 4 to 6 feet down and then the chopper would hop in the hole and cut the tree and they had to help them out of the hole. Then they would shovel out the hole again for his father to hook on with the horses.  At times it was very dangerous.  Lynwood decided that he probably should have stayed in school.

 In 1955 he married Winifred White and had 5 children.  In 1978 he married Beverly Eldridge.  He spent most of his life in South Tamworth and Ctr. Ossipee.

Over the years he also worked for the State of NH.   He enjoyed hunting very much and going to the car racing. He loved both of his families very much and enjoyed spending time with them. 

Lynwood is survived by his 4 children, Perley Ryder of Ctr. Ossipee NH,  Sandra Ames and husband Roger of Silver Lake NH, Belmont Ryder and Wife Rhonda of Ctr. Ossipee NH.  Gertrude Ryder of Conway NH, his two sisters Marie Knox of Conway and Betty Roberts and husband Brian of Effingham.  Many grandchildren, great & one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.  

Predeceased by 3 year old daughter Wendy Sue Ryder, wife Beverly Ryder, parents Perley and Gertrude Ryder , brothers Lloyd Ryder and Alton Ryder.
