Margaret Glazier Maddaus, 66, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2018 after a short and unexpected illness. Born in Rumford, Maine to Catherine (Perry) and Oliver Glazier on November 20, 1952, Peg attended Rumford High School (class of 1971) and studied English and Secondary Education at the University of Maine in Orono (class of 1975).
Shortly after her graduation from the University of Maine, Peg began a career in education, first at Kennett High School in Conway, NH for 17 years, largely spent teaching English, and later in the "Butterfly" classroom at the Wolfeboro Area Children’s Center for a number of years,
Peg found joy in discussions of American literature, poetry (especially Emily Dickinson), gardening, and education. And while she was loving and passionate about all children through her life and career, she found the utmost pride and joy from her two sons. She will be remembered for her good humor and feisty tenacity; her compassion and kindness. She is profoundly missed.
She is predeceased by her mother, Catherine M Glazier and her father, Oliver L. Glazier, her dear friend of many years, Timothy C. Whiting, and a daughter, for whom she never went a day without thinking, Katherine E. Maddaus. She is survived by her brother, David L. Glazier of Gilford NH, a beloved Aunt Lorraine Nadeau of Rumford, ME, two sons, Caleb A. Maddaus of Millis, MA, and Jacob M. Maddaus, of Bangor, Maine, as well as a number of close and loving friends.
