They were both active with the Huggins Hospital Street Fair as volunteers and as Chairman, and with Meals on Wheels. While she served on the Board of Trustees of Huggins Hospital, she was instrumental in getting Sugar Hill Retirement Community established and built. She was a member and past President of the Hospital Aid Association.  She was a member of the First Congregational Church where she was the chairman of the Chancel Committee for many years. Quilting was a favorite pastime and she was a member and past President of The New England Quilters Guild, founding member of the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts, as well as a founding member and past President of the Ladies of the Lake Quilters Guild. She was a member of PEO since 1988 as a member of Chapter G, New Hampshire.

She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Robert W. Nelson and her brother Howard A. Rollins and their parents.  She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Nelson) Gurnari of Gilford, NH; a son, Lt Col (US Army Retired) Karl H. Nelson of Marietta, GA; a son, Scott C.
