Ralph L. Leonard, Jr.

New Hampshire resident Ralph L. Leonard Jr. passed away on January 24th at his home in Effingham, N.H.   Born to Ralph & Ella Leonard (formerly Trask) of Beverly, Mass., he moved with his wife Patricia to their Lord's hill home in the early 1980's.  A prominent Real Estate broker on the North Shore of Boston, he commuted regularly between Effingham & Beverly right up until shortly before his passing.  A graduate of Beverly High School, Ralph went on to Brown University where he received a degree in history.  After college he went on to teach for a short while first at a small schoolhouse in rural Vermont and then in Ipswich, Mass.  Thereafter he returned full time to Real Estate first joining his father's business and then as an independent broker upon his father's retirement.

An avid outdoorsman, Ralph had a passion for skiing from early on.  Many a trip he made from down country to climb & ski Wildcat in the days before any lifts were operating on the mountain.  With the warming spring weather he would climb & ski in Tuckerman's ravine & the bowl on Mt Washington.   He continued to ski right into his mid seventies even earning a spot in the national finals in NASTAR racing for the senior age group while in his 60's.

Another passion shared with his wife Patricia was fox hunting on horseback with hounds.  Both were members of the Wentworth and Myopia Hunt Clubs, eventually earning the qualification to be hunt leaders.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years Patricia Leonard, sister Gwen Martin of Fort Myers, FL, brother in law Jim Zafris of Newburyport, MA., seven children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held for Ralph on Saturday March 3rd at 10AM at the Immanuel Church 140 Bridge St., Beverly, MA.
