Rev. Dr. Robert E. Bossdorf

The Reverend Dr. Robert “Bob” E. Bossdorf (79) of Ossipee, returned to his heavenly home on January 19, 2020 after a valiant battle with a long illness.  Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 18, 1940, to the late Gustave and Erna Bossdorf.  Bob was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.  

Bob had most recently been the pastor at the First Christian Church in Freedom until retiring in 2011.  He had a long and successful history in preaching throughout New England. He had been the pastor at the Second Congregational Church of Ossipee, the Asbury United Methodist Church in Warwick, RI; the Atlantic United Methodist Church in Quincy, MA; as well as Associate Pastor at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Watertown, MA.

Bob received his Doctor of Ministry from Boston University.  He began his ministry at Ballard Vale United Church in Andover, MA, which was a United Methodist Church. He was first ordained in the United Methodist Church. His orders were then recognized in the United Church of Christ and the Swedenborgian Church. He was also a certified drug and alcohol counselor. In addition, he spent 4 years working for The Commonfund in Westport, CT, in college endowment management.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his beloved wife, Eleanor Bossdorf of Ossipee, NH; his daughters Charlotta Farmer of Lubec ME, Tracey Bossdorf of Bridgeport CT and Melissa and her husband Scott Linsky of LaPlata MD; his son Eric and his wife Kathryn of Freehold NJ; his 13 grandchildren Heather Wright, Michelle, Greg, and Timothy Farmer, Jamie McDowell, Jared, Griffin, and Ethan Paris, Steven and Daniel Linsky, Molly, Abigail and Tess Bossdorf; his 3 great- grandchildren Kensi and Branson Wright and Sutton Farmer; his brother-in-law Alan Grant; and his 2 nephews David and his wife Sarah Grant, Eric and his wife Cindy Grant. He is preceded in death by his sister, Anna Bull; his parents; his daughter, Julie Paris and his sister-in-law Beverly Grant.

Bob’s life will be celebrated at the First Congregational Church of Ossipee, (50 NH-16B Center Ossipee, NH 03814) at 1:00 p.m. on February 1, with a reception to follow. Reverend Larry Wogman will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the First Christian Church Scholarship Foundation, 12 Elm St, Freedom, NH 03836, would be greatly appreciated.
