Robert L. Nelson

Robert L. Nelson, 85, of Wolfeboro, NH passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Genesis-Wolfeboro Bay Care facility following a period of failing health.

Bob was born April 24, 1934 in Malden, MA the son of the late Louis and Lillian (Chamberlain) Nelson, and had moved to Wolfeboro as a child where he had lived for most of his life.

He was a 1952 Graduate of Brewster Academy, Wolfeboro, NH.  Bob also served in the New Hampshire National Guard for eight years.

He had worked in the retail grocery business for most of his life working at the Meredith  A&P, Meredith, NH and later with the Wolfeboro A&P, Wolfeboro, NH where he became Manager.

In 1976 he bought the old Meredith A&P and established his own grocery store which was named Inter Lakes IGA.  He later sold the store in 1984.

Following his work as proprietor of the store he began work as a mail carrier with the USPO in Wolfeboro, NH for 6 years and retired in 1996.

Bob loved working in his garden and selling his vegetables and his delicious raspberries at his home vegetable stand located on Rt. 28, where many local people were his regular customers each year.

He was a member of the New Hampshire Farm Bureau.  He also had a love of the Red Sox, watching them play ball and also an avid fan of the Boston Bruins.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marilyn (Black) Nelson, Wolfeboro, NHNH  and their children Robert Nelson and his wife Christina, Clifton, VA; Patricia Hiltebeitel and her husband Jason, Milton, VT and James Nelson and his wife Wendy, Wolfeboro, NH.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kyle, Erik, Lara, Elizabeth and Christopher Nelson as well as a nieces and nephews.A Time of visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00PM at Lord Funeral Home, Wolfeboro, NH.  A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Wolfeboro, NH.
