Thomas "Buzz' Elkinton II Obituary

THOMAS WILLIAM ELKINTON, II

Thomas William “Buzz” Elkinton, II, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2019, in Stuart, Florida, surrounded by his family.

Born in Camden, New Jersey in 1944, Buzz was the oldest of three children of Thomas and Helen Elkinton.  Buzz lived in Haddonfield, NJ, and Seaside Park, NJ, before moving to Wolfeboro, NH, and eventually settling in Stuart, FL.   He attended the University of Pennsylvania and served for years on the Board of Directors of Philadelphia Quartz in Philadelphia, PA.

In Seaside Park, Buzz met the love of his life, Linda Clayton, and they were married in 1965.  The couple was an inseparable duo.  They had one daughter, Debra Lynn, who was the apple of her father’s doting eye and the two always enjoyed a close bond of love and support.

Buzz had a wonderful relationship with his three grandchildren and made it a point to always be a presence in their lives.  His affection was happily extended to his great-granddaughter, Fiona.

An avid sailor, Buzz loved nothing more than taking his family on trips ranging from afternoon tours of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire to multi-day excursions to the Bahamas and the Caribbean islands.

In addition to his loving wife, Buzz is survived by his daughter Debra Grott and partner, Russ Doyle, of Hampton, NH, and his three grandchildren:  Kaitlin Luker and her husband Travers and their daughter Fiona of Hampton, NH; Reid Grott and his wife Chelsea of Denver, CO; and Lexi Grott of Hampton, NH, and her friend Will Platt, of New York City.

Buzz also leaves behind his sister, Beth Roark and her husband Gregg of Wolfeboro, NH, and his brother, Dick Elkinton and his wife Lynn of Wolfeboro, NH.  He is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Buzz was predeceased by his mother, Helen Develin Elkinton, and his father, Thomas Elkinton.  Buzz will be remembered for his love of life and his love of family.

A celebration of life is planned for family.  Should friends or family desire, contributions can be made to Veterans Count New Hampshire. https://vetscount.org/nh/
