Virginia Ruth Bye, 79 of Ossipee, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 after a period of failing health.
She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Bye. Born in Beverly, MA, she was the eldest daughter of Fred and Ruth Stockton. Virginia graduated from Beverly High School before moving to NH to start her family.
A resident of Wolfeboro for many years, Virginia was known by the quilters and sewers of the town as the owner and shop-keeper of Wolfeboro Yarn and Fabric. She also used her talent as an accomplished pianist at many area churches, playing both piano and organ. She loved those hymns! Later in life she became a CNA, caring for the elderly privately and in area nursing homes; she worked for over 25 years at the Mountain View Nursing Home, where she later became a resident.
Virginia loved to knit and bake and talk. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was funny, generous, and could turn a stranger into a friend in seconds.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Donald and her son David. She is survived by her daughter Diane (Bye) Balser and husband Dan Balser of Brookfield, her daughter Darlene (Bye) Towle and husband Scott of Rochester, and her daughter Dawn (Bye) Amico and husband Paul of Danvers, MA; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and three more arriving soon. She is also survived by her sister Carol Willson of Barnstead, her sister Kathleen Hooper of Wolfeboro, and her brother Richard Stockton of Wakefield, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Virginia's life will be celebrated with a service at The First Christian Church in Wolfeboro, Pastor Thom Christian officiating on Sunday, August 26 at 3:00 PM.
