Aage Jensen Obituary

Aage Jensen was born on September 25, 1937, in Villestofte, Odense, Denmark, to Rasmus Marius Jensen and Karin Rasmussen Jensen. He was born just before World War II and grew up during the German occupation of Denmark, an experience that shaped his lifelong sense of discipline, self-reliance, and conviction.

After completing his education at Tietgen Business School in Odense, Aage served in the Danish military, first in the army, then as an accountant for the Danish Air Force stationed at Thule Air Base in Greenland. He went on to work for the Greenland Commission in accounting and finance, and later for several Danish construction companies in Copenhagen.

In the 1960s, Aage began a long and distinguished career with Reader’s Digest, first at the company’s European headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and later at the corporate headquarters in Pleasantville, New York. Over the decades, he rose through the ranks to become an executive heading the Global Services Department. His work took him across the world, spending extended periods in Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and throughout Europe, where his professionalism, fairness, and exacting standards earned him the respect of colleagues worldwide.

After leaving Reader’s Digest, Aage founded and led two successful businesses: Learning Enhancement, LLC, and the New York State Institute for Real Estate Studies, LLC, both based in Mt. Kisco, New York.

He formally retired in 2000 and moved to New Hampshire, first settling in New London and later in Gilford, where he lived from 2017 until his passing.

He is survived by his son, Erik Christian Jensen of Gilford, New Hampshire (formerly of McLean, Virginia), and his former wife, Diane Elaine Jensen of Sarasota, Florida.

Aage’s life and work spanned continents, but his values never changed - honesty, respect, and dedication.
