Ann Pollini Obituary

ANN POULIN POLLINI

11/28/33 – 5/29/18

Ann Pollini, beloved Mother and Wife, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2018.

Ann was born in Rumford, Maine and soon after moved to Augusta, Maine with her parents and

sister.  Shortly after being a graduate from high school she became the youngest person to be accepted into the nursing program at age 17 by Maine Medical Center.  She became the Head Operating Nurse for years before traveling to Florida by herself and relocating to Wolfeboro, NH on a whim.  While in Wolfeboro she became a nanny for the owners of the General Wolfe (now the Windrifter) for their three small children.  She was also a ski instructor at Moose Mountain.  Skiing was her passion which she handed down to her son, Jay and her grandchildren, Anya and Aria.  She was also a nurse at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro, NH.  It was during this time in 1962 that she met and married her husband, David, to whom she was married for 55 years.  They lived at Brewster Academy while having their daughter, Susan, and their son, Jay.

While her husband was the Golf Pro at Kingswood for 38 years, Ann ran the Pro Shop effortlessly. She loved all the members and it was like having a great big extended family back in the day!  She was a great golfer and she absolutely loved playing golf with all her friends every day.   She and her husband arranged many golf outings to Bermuda, St. Kitts, the Bahamas and the Dominican.  The memories of those trips always brought a great smile to her face.  Her favorite trip was one with her husband and Stu and Jean Stinchfield to the beautiful island of Maui.

Never a complaint from this amazing woman as she suffered from macular degeneration for 15 years, and finally from dementia for the last few years of her life.  Her family was always in awe of her grace and strength throughout everything that was dealt to her.  She had an amazing dry sense of humor and always a smile.

Her absolute favorite place in the world was anywhere near the ocean.   She took constant trips to Wells, Maine for dinner with her husband and countless outings to Kennebunkport, Maine, Ogunquit, Maine and Rye, NH with her daughter, son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank three of her long lasting friends, Ginny Motte, Janice Fenton and Joan Dollarhide who were always there for her.  Thank you for being so good to our Mom…. She loved you so.  To her Foxwoods Gang; Sue, Elaine, Joan and Gail ….. those days were talked about often and cherished by Mom.

She is survived by her husband, David, her daughter, Susan, and fiance, Buddy, her son, Jay, and his wife, Natasha and their children, Anya and Aria, all of Wolfeboro, NH.  She is also survived by her nephew, Geoff Williams and fiance, Pam of Lawrence, MA and by her niece, Cathy Magee and her husband, Mike of Wilton, NH and by her niece, Suzanne Chapman of Onset, MA.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Dorothy Poulin of Augusta, Maine, her sister Fae Williams and brother-in-law, Leonard of Wilton, NH and a niece Elizabeth (Betsy) Williams and nephew, Matthew Williams of Wilton as well.

There are no calling hours or funeral at her request but the family will hold a graveside service at the Lakeview Cemetery in September, as the fall was her favorite time of year.  The date and time of the service will be announced at a later date.  Her passing has left her family brokenhearted but so amazingly thankful for every day we had with her.

To her caregivers near the end …. Amy, Karen, Mary and Diane …. there are no words to thank you for your caring, kindness, gentleness, patience and respect you gave her.  We will forever be grateful to you.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Ann's name to the Alzheimer's Association at Alz.Org or may be sent to Alzheimer's Association at 166 South River Road, #210, Bedford, NH 03110.
