Arthur Brunt Obituary

Arthur Raymond Brunt, aged 95, passed away on September 18, 2024, in Scarborough, Maine. Born on June 19, 1929, Arthur led a fulfilling life marked by his dedication to education, military service, and an active involvement in his community.

Arthur proudly served in both the Army National Guard and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, embodying the virtues of dedication and service. After his military service, he pursued an education at East Coast Aero Tech, which led to a rewarding career as an instructor at the same institution. He was also a mechanic examiner for the FAA. Arthur's passion for teaching continued as he later educated young minds at Kingswood Regional and Farmington High Schools.

A man of faith, Arthur was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Wolfeboro, where he held many positions over the years, contributing significantly to his church community. He served the Wolfeboro community on both the Wolfeboro Rescue Squad and the Wolfeboro Fire Department.

Arthur’s love for the outdoors was evident through his hobbies. He was an avid fisherman, hiker, and mountain biker. Notably, he was a member of the AMC 4000-Footer Club, having climbed most of the peaks post-retirement with his friend Ernie Bainton. His enthusiasm for canoeing led him to co-found the Smith River Canoe Race and to craft wood strip canoes, a testament to his craftsmanship and love for the water.

He is survived by his sister, Margorie Glispen and her husband Richard; his sons, Steve and his wife Cathy, and David and his wife Kathy; his grandson, Benjamin and his wife Sarah; and his great-granddaughters, Elena and Madeline. Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie (Miner) Brunt, and his longtime companion, Lola Burns.

Arthur's life was one of active engagement and service, a thread that ran through both his professional and personal life. Contributions in memory of Arthur can be made to the Wolfeboro, NH Fire Department, supporting a community that was close to his heart.
