Arthur Lloyd Hadden, Jr.
Lloyd passed away at age 80 on May 24, 2023 in North Conway after a contested battle with cancer.
A unique free spirit, his passing leaves an unfillable void.
He was born on November 9, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts. Lloyd graduated from Concord (Mass.) High School and attended the University of Denver.
Six generations of his family have spent summer and winter vacations in Chocorua. It was natural, therefore, for Lloyd to settle in the village. He worked primarily as a rural mail carrier to support his never ending passion for skiing, motorcycle racing and competitive croquet. Stories of his conquests are many.
He is survived by his two brothers, Nick (Sherry Freeto) of Vermont, Chris (Nan Kenny) of Maine, three nieces and one nephew, and four grandnieces and two grandnephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Katharine Loring Hadden of Concord, Massachusetts and Chocorua in 2003 and his father, Arthur Lloyd Hadden, Sr. in 2012.
A special thanks to Howard Trask, Keith Simpson and Mary Simpson who provided comfort and friendship to him during his final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Friends of Cook Memorial Library at 93 Main Street in Tamworth, NH on whose Board Lloyd once served.
A celebration of Lloyd's life will be held at St. Andrews-in-the-Valley at 678 Whittier Road in Tamworth on July 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
