Bernard Edwards Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Bernard Charles Edwards, Sr., 84, of Moultonborough, NH, on April 15, 2026. Known to many as “Bern”, he was a companion, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Bernard was born and raised in Effingham, NH to the late John and Helen (Stevens) Edwards. He was employed at Coleman’s in Conway, NH, at Ossipee Aggregates in Ossipee, NH, and then owned and ran the daily operations of a logging business out of Effingham. His son Bernie worked alongside him for several years. He was known for his dedication, dependability, mechanical knowledge, and strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Bern enjoyed spending time deer-hunting with his brothers, sons, grandsons, and friends. Fishing was also a big part of his life. Whether it be lake, brook, ice, or deep-sea, he enjoyed the camaraderie of everyone around him. And oh, the stories he would share…Camp was a special place for Bernard and he made many memories there with family and friends. Some of us had the recent privilege of listening to his grandchildren recount unforgettable stories of four-wheeling, fishing, catching frogs, and sitting around the campfire. These are memories they will always cherish. Bern also enjoyed playing cards and various games, even more so when there was money and a cold beer involved.

Bernard is survived by his daughter Peggy Dowcett of Concord, MA; sons Bernard C. Edwards, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Chocorua, NH, and Jimmy Edwards and his wife Angela of Silver Lake, NH; step-daughter Joanne Plummer and her husband David of Campton, NH; steps-son Jeffrey Theoll and his wife Mickey of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren Danielle Edwards Shannon, Eric Edwards, Sarah Barston and Jesse Edwards; step-grandchildren Shane and Alex Plummer, and Sophia and Bladen Theoll; and several great-grandchildren; sisters Virginia Heaton, Roberta Stevens, and Maggy Brulotte; brothers Lawrence, Dick, Keith, Donald, and Philip Edwards; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bernard also leaves behind his beloved companion Judith Cunningham, who was a source of love and friendship in his final years.

Bernard was predeceased by his wife Mary (Kimball) Edwards; brothers Lewis, Marvin, and Johney Edwards; sister Geneva Thompson; grandson Patrick Dowcett; and step-daughter Jackie Churchill.

Bernard’s presence will be missed, but his memory lives on in the stories, laughter, and the saying “good enough”.

In accordance with Bernard’s wishes there will be no services. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
