Carol Anne (Mallett) Furtado

Carol A. Furtado, 85, of Freedom, NH, formerly of Hingham, MA, passed away on June 17, 2025, at the Mountain View Community nursing facility in Ossipee. Born in Quincy, MA, Carol was the daughter of the late Alice E. Mallett (nee Nixon) and Francis H. Mallett.

Carol grew up in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School in 1957. In addition to raising a family of five in Hingham, she did volunteer work for many years at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Kind, caring, and loving simply doesn't capture Carol's essence. Carol was deeply spiritual, empathetic, gentle and lifted the hearts of many. When not comforting others, Carol enjoyed cooking, doing crossword puzzles, reading and watching vintage movies. She also loved everything to do with nature, especially bird watching.

Carol is survived by her son, Mark S. Furtado of Weymouth, MA; daughter, Leslie Furtado of Freedom, NH; daughter, Lynne Furtado of Henderson, TN; daughter, Robin Kaine of Plymouth, MA; son, Charles Furtado of Hingham, MA; and brother George Mallett of Plymouth, MA. Carol was "Mimi" to nine grandchildren: Alexander, Mia, Olivia, Bianca, Sarah, Mary Cate, Stephen, Christopher and Michael; and two great grandchildren, Francis and Aiden. She is pre-deceased by her ex-husband Howard “Charlie” Furtado and her brother Neil S. Mallett.
