David Paul McBride Sr.

It is with a heavy heart that I share this with the Wolfeboro Community:

David Paul McBride, a long-time resident of Wolfeboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 10, 2025, after a long courageous battle with life threatening illnesses.

David was born to Bertha and Frank McBride on July 1,1952 in Wolfeboro, NH. His father passed when he was five years old, and his mother remarried Ansel Huston. Bertha and Ansel raised David in Dover along with his five siblings: Wayne McBride, Michael McBride, Diane Loiselle, Sandra McBride-Scott (predeceased), and Ansel Houston. David graduated from Dover High School in 1970. He married his loving wife Peggy McBride on November 14, 1970, and they settled in Wolfeboro, NH. David and Peggy spent the next 54 years in Wolfeboro where they raised two sons: David McBride of Exeter, NH and Matthew McBride of Arlington, MA.

Throughout the 1970s and 80s David was a well-known carpenter in the area. His wood-working skills were distinguished and can be found in countless homes in the Lakes Region. More recently, David worked as a landscaper for Hale’s Professional Turf, where among other things, he enjoyed working with, and befriending, members of the various crews over the years, and took great pride in meticulously maintaining the athletic fields at both Kingswood High School and Brewster Academy.

His real passion was for his family, which he loved and supported unconditionally. He put his shoulder behind Peggy’s various endeavors, including her long tenure as the commissioner of Wolfeboro-Tuftonboro little league. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, nephews and nieces, and in particular, as a supporter and avid fan whether it be in the stands or providing an approving nod and smile, or encouragement when it was needed.

He is survived by his: wife Peggy, son David and his wife Kimberly and their three daughters Emerson, Martelle, and Kendall; son Matthew McBride and his wife Lorie and their son and two daughters Colin, Claire, and Vivian; siblings Wayne McBride, Michael McBride, Diane Loiselle, Ansel Houston, numerous in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces, and Honey Hooper, his aunt.

A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, 83 North Main Street, Wolfeboro, NH, Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM, for family and friends. Anyone interested in joining the family for a celebration of life can join them following the church service at the Back Bay Boathouse for a cold Budweiser or two and food.
