Deborah “Debe” Ann Tetherly age 69 of Wolfeboro, NH (formerly of York, ME) walked with God peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Debe was born on April 5th, 1953 in Brookline, MA. She was raised in Durham, NH and enjoyed summers on the ocean in Cape Neddick, ME. Debe graduated from Oyster River High School in 1971. She worked in the billing and accounting department at York Hospital, then as a nurse's aid at York Village Nursing Home. She moved to Wells, ME in the mid 70’s and worked for the grant office and the treasurer office at Alfred Court House. Debe was also the Treasurer of Portland Waste Oil and G.D. Tetherly & Sons.
In 1991, Debe and her children moved to Tuftonboro, NH. She began Maid Easy, a successful cleaning company that she owned and operated from 1991-2017. Debe was very involved in the local community. For many years she helped with events (Turkey Trot, Smith River Canoe Race) while serving as a member of the Wolfeboro Lions Club. She was also a participant and committee member for many years with the annual Wolfeboro Relay for Life event for the American Cancer Society (entertainment chair 2003). Debe enjoyed hiking, planting and tending to her flower pots and garden, drawing, oil painting, art lessons in her youth, the ocean, snow shoeing and trips with her four grandchildren.
Debe will always be remembered as an incredibly hard-working, loving and dedicated mother to her three children. She would happily be available in a heartbeat for her family and friends. She will also be remembered as the red-headed life of the party.
Debe was pre-deceased by her parents Ruth and George E. Smith Jr. She is survived by her sister Cindy and Larry Tischendorf of York, ME; her brother Jeff and Grace Smith of Las Vegas, NV; her son Justin and Abbey Tetherly and grandchildren Brinley and Boden of Wolfeboro, NH; her son Lincoln Tetherly and Alexa Ellis of Eliot, ME; her daughter Melissa Hart and grandchildren Lily and Will of Riverview, FL.
