Diane Simpson Obituary

With great sadness, the family of Diane (Klimm) Simpson announces her passing on January 16, 2024, at her home in Conway, NH. "Di" was born on October 26, 1943, in Maywood, NJ, to Frank and Miriam Klimm. Following her studies at Centenary College for Women, Di raised her family in Denville, New Jersey. She showed her passion for giving back to her community and church as a Girl Scout Leader, PTA President, and church secretary.

In 1989, Di and her youngest son moved to Wolfeboro. Di quickly immersed herself in her new community and met dear and lasting friends. For eight years, Di worked for Brewster Academy, where she was recognized for distinguished service. After Brewster, Di worked for Bartlett Tree, The Wright Museum, and UNH's College for Lifelong Learning, wherein in 1992, she received her Graphic Arts certificate. In 1994, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Management.

Di's lifelong dedication to church and community continued throughout the years, including her volunteer work with parent committees, First Night Wolfeboro, Artists in the Park, and the Governor Wentworth Arts Council, where she served as president. She was a devoted member and deacon of Wolfeboro's First Congregational Church. Her enthusiasm, dedication, and positive attitude permeated everything she did. Di was a joy to work and serve with. Whatever it was, it would be done right, on time, with no corners cut. Di was a friend to all - she had a huge heart, a gentle soul, and a loving spirit.

In 2000, Di married Dan Simpson, and together, they began their next chapter. Over the years, they shared warm and loving homes in Wolfeboro, Freedom, Ossipee, and Conway. Di and Dan shared their love of family, friends, adventures, and New Hampshire. Di was an accomplished photographer and note card designer. Later in her life, one of Di's favorite pastimes was discovering the tranquility and hidden treasures nestled along ancient dirt roads.

Di is survived by her loving husband, Dan; her children, Susan Peterson of Vienna, VA, Robert DeNee of Hackettstown, NJ, David DeNee of Brooklyn, NY; stepchildren Daniel (Michele) Simpson Jr. of Sweden, ME, Jonathan (Kelly) Simpson of Fryeburg, ME, Allen (Mary) Simpson of Wolfeboro; grandchildren Jordan, Chloe, Daniel III, Georgia, Wesley, Amaya, Hunter; brother Robert (Ellen) Klimm of Wolfeboro.

To honor Di's memory, the family will hold a celebration of her life in the spring.
