Donald W. Leavitt, “Don” age 92, of Wolfeboro, NH and formerly of Stoneham, MA., passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023.

Don was born on January 28, 1931, in Winchester, MA to Walter G. Leavitt and Hazel I. (Miller) Leavitt.

Don graduated from Stoneham High School in 1948.  Worked for his dad in the Insurance Business until 1950 when he entered the U.S. Air Force, spending four years at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX.  In December of 1954 he was discharged from the Air Force and entered the Insurance industry again.  He spent 46 years in the Insurance business and was President of the “Professional Insurance Agents of New England” in 1984-1985.

Active in community affairs, he was a member of the Civic Advisory Board of New England Memorial Hospital, past President of the Stoneham Rotary Club, V.P., and member of the Board of Investment at Stoneham Savings Bank.  He was President of W.G. Leavitt and Son, Inc. Agency in Stoneham, MA. and Branch office in Wilmington, MA.

He married Vivian M. (Richard) Leavitt in October 1952 and had two sons, Scott, and Mark.  He enjoyed square dancing, camping, and boating.

Don and Vivian moved to Wolfeboro, NH in 2000 and became a member of the First Christian Church in Wolfeboro, NH.  He was a Deacon and served in other capacities.  He bought a condo in 1984 and he retired in 2000.  He was Past President and for many years served as Treasure for Pine Harbor Condo Assoc. of Wolfeboro, NH.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Leavitt of Wolfeboro, N.H.  His son, Scott Leavitt and wife Joan of Billerica, Mass.;  Son, Mark Leavitt and wife Donna of Wolfeboro, N.H.

Don was a loving grandfather to Christopher Leavitt and wife Amanda of Dracut, Mass.  Courtney Leavitt and wife Bethany of Billerica, Mass. , Kelly Collopy  and husband Nick of Wolfeboro, N.H and John Sullivan of Barrington, N.H.

Don was also the BEST Great Grampy to Brayden Leavitt, Olivia, Ella and Ryan Collopy, along with John and Brienne Sullivan.

Don was also a loving brother to the late Jeanette Hureau and uncle to an abundance of nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.  A private celebration of life will be at the First Christian Church, 83 North Main Street, Wolfeboro, NH on August 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM.  Following the service there will be a time of remembrance in the followship hall at the church.  The private burial will be at 2 PM at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Peabody, MA.
