Dorothy Milligan, 91 years old of Ctr. Ossipee, NH passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025. She was born Oct. 2, 1933, in Wolfeboro, NH to the late Wilbur and Gladys Abbott.
Dottie was raised in Wolfeboro where she attended Brewster Academy. She married the late Roy T. Milligan in 1952 and settled in Ctr. Ossipee where Roy was the Barber. They shared a love for children and had eight of their own. Dottie welcomed Roy's two children from a prior marriage into their life.

While her youngest child was in school, she pursued a career working at Ossipee Central School becoming kitchen manager for 42 years. She spread joy and happiness to everyone around her with her gentle, loving smile and spirit. While working at the school she became a close friend to Donald Kemper and they remained in each other’s life until her passing.
At the end of her day, she would often be found knitting a sweater or afghan for one of her children or grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, going for car or boat rides and the lakes and mountains.
In 2011 the town of Ossipee honored Dottie with the citizen of the year award.
Dottie leaves behind 6 children and a stepdaughter; Brenda Blake and husband Joseph, Dwight Milligan, Kathleen Keene and husband Richard, Deborah Merry and husband Bill Allen, Melissa Garlough and husband Glenn, Suzanne Wiggin and Scott Milligan. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter along with her brother Malcolm Abbott and companion Donald Kemper. She is predeceased by her husband Roy T Milligan, stepson Thomas Milligan, sons Dennis R and Mark B. Milligan, sister Alice Hitchcock and brother Harold Abbott.
Memorial Services will be held at the First Congregational Church, 50 NH-16B, Center Ossipee, NH on April 25, 2025; at 11:00 AM. A fellowship reception will immediately follow at the Church. Interment will be at Chickville Cemetery, Chickville Road, Center Ossipee at 1:30 PM.
